“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” — Nelson Mandela
This is our goal at Library For All. On May 29, 2013, through the launch of our Kickstarter campaign we were able to achieve part of this goal with much gratitude to our backers and guests who attended the Library For All Founder’s Reception at Soho House in NYC.
Students, academics, business men and women of all ages and backgrounds joined together for what turned out to be a fun, lighthearted and successful evening for our Kickstarter campaign. We were bound by a common link of compassion for those in underprivileged communities along with a desire to act and make a difference for those living in the developing world. Guests were asked to take out and use their smartphone devices (for once!) to bid in an auction-like fashion for the Kickstarter campaign. Thanks to our attendees and both online and offline backers, we raised 30K in 30 hours and 40K in pledges by the end of the night!
Library For All’s effort extends (way) beyond US national borders. The following week, we held a similar event in Brisbane, Australia, which was filled with as much heartfelt triumph as the NYC launch. Now, by the end of merely one week, we raised over 50K and we’re half way there, with 37 days to go!
Through the help of our supporters, we are on the way to launch our pilot program in Respire Haiti. By the end of the program, 500 students will be able to access books unobstructed by language barriers, outdated material and faulty print that obscures critical images and text. Within 12 months, we will be able to provide access to 60 schools across Haiti. The future of Library For All is truly limitless.
In the words of Bon Jovi, ”we’re half way there…. we’ll make it I swear,”
and it’s up to YOU to help us make it. Even $1 makes a difference. Visit our Kickstarter page today to be part of something that will revolutionize learning in the developing world.
