Accounting & Finance Summer Internship

As an Accounting/Finance Intern you’ll learn the ins and outs of supporting an international non-profit with an ambitious mission for changing the status of education in the world. This internship focuses on building skills that can apply for alifetime, including, but not limited to: bookkeeping, financial management, communication,leadership, presentation, project management, resiliency, personal flexibility and technology.

Through meaningful work, this intern will:

  • Learn how to think critically and act logically to solve problems and make decisions;
  • Use computers, technology, tools, and information system effectively;
  • Build and work in teams;
  • Develop leadership skills through taking ownership and responsibility for projects;
  • Learn how to develop a positive attitude toward change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Familiarity with standard accounting procedures responsible for recording a non-profit's business transactions;
  • Maintain records using QuickBooks computer program and balance all reports and ledgers monthly;
  • Examine accounts and records and prepare basic financial reports.

SKILLS

  • Competent in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is an asset;
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices;
  • College student majoring in Accounting acceptable;
  • Personal qualities of initiative, detail orientation, organization, task completion, self-motivation, reliability, flexibility, curiosity, energy, and collaboration.

Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 2-year work experience preferred

COMMITMENT

Start & End Date Flexible; Must be able to work from our New York office at least 2-3 days a week

This is an unpaid internship - but is an exceptional opportunity to gain experience at an international non-profit with an ambitious mission. We will gladly work with your institution to give you academic credit for your experience.

Operations & Logistics Internship

As Operations & Logistics Intern you’ll learn the ins and outs of supporting an international non-profit with an ambitious mission for changing the status of education in the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You'll support our finance team by organizing financial data, working with various stakeholders to track program goals, and finding efficiencies in our processes.
  • You'll help track our internal KPIs and metrics to provide ongoing analysis and insight on the health of the business.
  • You'll support the Operations Manager on special organizational projects.

SKILLS

  • You’re a natural problem-solver with a flair for creativity: You view problems and complications as an opportunity for improvement. You feel comfortable designing a process and implementing trainings to overcome organizational setbacks. You find new and effective ways to streamline and create processes for increased efficiency
  • You're a visionary: You can develop a clear image for success and translate the thought into something tangible. You communicate clearly projected outcomes, benefits and indicators.
  • You’re detail-oriented: You know the devil is in the detail, and your meticulous nature and dedication to process trumps the threat. You understand that small components executed with precision contribute to larger success.
